Dear Acadiana Macromedia Multimedia User Group Member:

I'm happy to announce that as of August 1, the Acadiana MMUG will now be known as the Acadiana Adobe User Group. With this new name we also have a new web site:

http://www.acadiana-aug.org

While our name is changing, our mission is not. We will still meet monthly to discuss any matter related to the web and web development. While most of us use Adobe products day to day and that will be our core focus, we are always open to discussing non-Adobe products and services.

Basically if you are interested in web development, this is YOUR GROUP!

Our next meeting is currently being planned. It is VERY important that you visit the web site and enter your email address in the Subscribe pod. The current list will NOT be continued. This is the last email you will get from this list. You MUST sign up. As it takes one minute, this should be a quick and painless procedure.

The May meeting will be on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at 6 pm at the PASA office (address and Google link in the "Next Meeting" block in the right-hand column).

Ron Domingue will present on Typography and Font Selection for the Web. Ron is a CSS expert and is responsible for the design features of an international company web site in Lafayette.

There's a lot more than Arial and Helvetica to choose from, and Ron will discuss font styles and even their histories, and show how to define font stacks in CSS that can enhance web design.

James Edmunds will also make a brief presentation on using Microsoft's free WEFT program to embed fonts in web pages that will show when rendered in MSIE.

Our April meeting will be on the 17th. The topic is still being determined (we have two possibilities), but there will be a large collection of schwag to give away!

Our March meeting will be... tonight! We had a problem with scheduling the speaker so tonight's meeting will be a general Q and A and planning session. Raymond will also show a bit of Apollo, Adobe's latest release.

Please join us for our meeting tonight at the LITE center. (Address and map to the right.) Our meeting will be on Flash Skinning.

Our January meeting will be held at the LITE (Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise) facility. We (may) get a tour of the facility and Ron will be doing a presentation on skinning with Flash.

The meeting will be held on January 24th at 6PM.

Our December meeting will be a casual night out at Blue Dog Cafe. This will be at 6PM on December 12th. Please RSVP if you can make it so we can make a reservation.

Our November meeting will be on the 7th. Brian Sanford will be talking about Regular Expressions, or Regex. This is a way to parse and examine strings. It is used for many purposes including validation, searching, and manipulating text in general.

This will be at our new location, PASA, at 6PM. Hope to see you there!
